2. Central Administration Breadcrumb Navigation Trail Icon

SharePoint 2010 introduces a new breadcrumb navigation trail icon, shown between the Site Actions and Browse options in Figure 3, that is available on all pages including the Central Administration home page. This icon allows you to easily determine where you are located within the Central Administration site and quickly navigate from a lower level component to a higher level component using the links available in the breadcrumb navigation trail.

In most locations, the breadcrumb navigation trail also appears in the title bar area, as shown in Figure 4. This provides a quick overview that shows you where you are located without clicking the breadcrumb navigation trail icon. Note that links that appear dimmed in the title bar breadcrumb navigation trail are unavailable because they represent the current page.

3. Central Administration Browse Option

The Browse option on the Central Administration home page is the default view that is displayed when you first open SharePoint 2010 Central Administration. You can access the eight functional categories from this view using the Quick Launch bar on the left or from within the main section of the page.

The SharePoint Health Analyzer bar shown in Figure 5 may appear in yellow or red on your screen. A yellow Health Analyzer Information bar indicates there were warnings discovered and reported. A red Health Analyzer information bar indicates there were errors discovered and reported. This analyzer bar will only display warnings or errors if the Health Analyzer discovers them as it performs the default health checks on your SharePoint farm.

Figure 5. The SharePoint Health Analyzer bar is yellow if warnings have been discovered and reported.

To view the critical issues it is reporting to you, click the View These Issues link within the Health Analyzer information bar to display a Review Problems And Solutions report such as the one shown in Figure 6.
